Work with us

Working with The Women’s Centre Cornwall means joining a vibrant, friendly and ambitious community of women spread across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and HMP Eastwood Park.

We are all unique and individual women, connected by a shared purpose. We look together in the same direction, committed to our vision of a world in which women are free and empowered.

Our hope is that women in our staff and volunteer community feel as though they truly belong.

We highly value lived experience and take a positive action approach in our recruitment. We welcome women who identify with having lived experience of sexual or domestic abuse or violence, the Criminal Justice System, as well as women with disabilities and women from Black, Asian and minoritized communities.

Many of our volunteers began their journey with us by accessing support services and many of our staff, including managers, worked for us initially as volunteers.

Our staff have access to:

  • In-depth induction training on issues including sexual and domestic abuse, trauma, safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Further training opportunities on a wide range of topics related to violence against women and girls
  • Support around self-care and wellbeing and the opportunity for reflective practice, through regular one to one supervision

We are united by shared values and we regularly encourage staff to have their voices heard about how our organisation continues to grow.

“After receiving support from The Women’s Centre Cornwall, I found my voice and was finally able to speak my truth. This meant that I could think about becoming a volunteer because I no longer felt like my experience of sexual violence defined me. I became a volunteer and that is when I came home.

I found my calling and walked alongside my tribe of women that understood what I had experienced. They boosted me up, had my back, encouraged me and eventually I became a member of staff.”
