The Women’s Centre Cornwall is a charity with over 30 years’ experience supporting women and girls living with the impact of domestic and sexual abuse. Growing from its early roots as a Rape Crisis Centre, it is now an innovative, award-winning feminist organisation providing a wide range of services for women and girls in our communities.
Our work with survivors of sexual and domestic violence is our core specialism, underpinned by our belief that there can be no real gender equality without a complete cessation of violence against women. Alongside this, we provide a range of community-based services across Cornwall and support women with experience of the criminal justice system across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and HMP Eastwood Park.
As Lead Partner for key services including the Oak Sexual Violence Service, Cornwall Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) service and Devon and Cornwall Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service, we work with a number of trusted partners to ensure that people of all genders, ages and backgrounds can access appropriate, high-quality support.

PURPOSE
To provide on-site oversight of the provision of Specialist Support Services from the Bodmin centre, deal with ad hoc queries, safeguarding and other queries. The post holder will lead the Helping to Heal team providing trauma stabilisation interventions on an outreach basis and overseeing short-term interventions including the telephone Helpline, Campfire Peer Support App and the survivors portal ensuring that survivors can access a high-quality additional support on demand.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise the telephone helpline including managing the rota and providing training, supervision and operational support to the team
• Supervise the Campfire Peer Support app including training and supervising moderators and ongoing development.
• Supervision and development of the survivors portal including designing and producing content.
• Act as a Safeguarding Champion, providing initial safeguarding advice to volunteers and paid staff working from the centre, the Helping to Heal Team and other staff as needed.
• To provide ad hoc guidance, de-briefs and support to volunteers delivering support at Bodmin.
• Line management of Helping to Heal Specialist Support workers and other staff as required.

PURPOSE
TWCC’s Specialist Support service provides a wide range of responsive services to meet the needs of women and girls who have experienced sexual and/or domestic abuse. The post holder will oversee the continued development of our core services of one-to-one and groupwork specialist support, trauma stabilisation, helpline, peer support and online survivor’s forum Campfire. This will involve nurturing the team of Coordinators and Team Leaders to provide creative approaches to delivering best outcomes for survivors and working with the wider management team to identify and implement innovative solutions. Ensuring accurate and timely
data and outcomes collection across the services, the post-holder will ensure that the service develops in line with the current needs of women and girls.
The post-holder will oversee the training and development of the staff and volunteer team, many of whom have lived experience.
An appetite for change and continuous improvement balanced by a high level of emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of male violence and its impact upon women and girls are key requirements for this role.

Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Women’s Community Service
Open is a successful service with an excellent reputation for offering trauma-informed specialist support to women in the criminal justice system across Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Developed by The Women’s Centre Cornwall, Open provides a gender specific, holistic service in Dorset, Devon & Cornwall, and accepting referrals from the Probation Service. The service offers practical and emotional support, advocacy, safety planning and trauma-informed support on sexual violence, domestic violence and childhood sexual abuse. We work in partnership with Probation and other agencies. Open is a safe and confidential space for women who have been convicted of an offence to explore any issues she feels are applicable to her in her journey towards a life free from offending.
It is delivered by The Women’s Centre Cornwall which is run by women, for women, and aims to empower and enable all women and girls to gain the health and well-being and confidence and skills to achieve their potential and become stronger and more independent.
Qualifications and Experience
It is desirable to have a relevant degree and/or recognised professional qualification in social care or a related field and/or accredited Domestic Abuse training. However at least one year’s experience of direct work with women with complex needs and/or survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. The ability to undertake risk assessments, safety planning and providing support and targeted intervention is equally relevant. Knowledge of the criminal justice system is very advantageous.
Full driving license and the ability to travel is essential. Work with the women is carried out by phone and in person.
Main Purpose Of The Job:
To deliver structured and targeted interventions to comply with the requirements of Open’s Women’s Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) as sentenced by the courts and to liaise with Offender Managers.
To establish strong working relationships with identified partners including probation, courts, police, prisons to ensure the development of effective service provision to women offenders.
To deliver a range of interventions, as part of a community sentence, to meet individual needs, aiming to prevent reoffending and to empower each woman. Plus, the development of supportive local relationships with a range of statutory and voluntary service providers to ensure women can receive on-going individual packages of support required to reduce risk and encourage desistance from offending.
In particular, to work with the referred women to enhance their understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and sexual violence and to support them to develop strategies to reduce the harm caused by the abuse.
To provide targeted support to the women referred. This will include structured assessment of risk and support needs and, in conjunction with women, the development and implementation of action plans to address the causes offending, reducing the risk of re-offending and meeting needs identified and writing final reports once a woman completes her community sentence.
