DIVAS

The DIVAS are a Women's Centre Cornwall Project and form part of our Community Engagement Project.

We are using Easy Read images on this page, but together with the DIVAS we are working on creating our own new photos.

The DIVAS are a group of women with Learning Disabilities, Neurodiversity and Autism who fight to be treated fairly and with respect.

And get their voices heard.

They speak out about domestic abuse which hurts women and is wrong.

Domestic Abuse is:

  • When your close partner or family member  hurts you or says they will hurt you.
  • They might bully you or control you.
  • This could be things like hitting you or  making you feel bad about yourself.
  • They may control your money or what you  do online.

Domestic abuse is always wrong.

They speak out about sexual abuse which hurts women and is wrong.

Sexual Violence is:

  • When someone makes you do something sexual or touches parts of your body in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable or bad or scared.
  • If you do not want to be touched by them you can say NO.
  • If they ignore you they are using sexual violence.
  • It is a serious crime and is against the law.

Sexual violence is always wrong.

The DIVAS are a Women's Centre Cornwall Project and form part of our Community Engagement Project.

We will help women with Learning Disabilities, Neurodiversity and Autism to be safer and more confident.

We get people and organisations to work together to make services better for women with Learning Disabilities, Neurodiversity and Autism.

We want to make a difference.

We are champions speaking out so that other women keep safe from abuse.

We speak out about the DIVAS are doing and the changes that are needed.

We are asked to give advice on improving services for women with Learning Disabilities, Neurodiversity and Autism in Cornwall and in England.

We are trained to teach other people well.

They can learn from us.

We are peer educators.

We support each other. We also have fun together.
