A lifeline for women and girls after sexual abuse

We’re raising funds for empowering support to help women and girls heal after sexual and domestic abuse.

Women say “The Women’s Centre Cornwall is such an important place, it has been an absolute lifeline for me, like a precious jewel that I found, I don’t know where I’d be without it.”

Last year 5,900 women in Cornwall were raped or sexually assaulted, and over 14,700 were subjected to domestic abuse. Around 12,000women in Cornwall have experienced extensive and repeated domestic and sexual abuse, and many of those experience homelessness, addictions, poverty and emotional distress including suicidal feelings. Women and girls with learning disabilities are especially vulnerable to abuse. Trauma can have a life-long impact, especially without access to specialist support.

We will offer empowering, highly specialist support to help women and girls heal from abuse and trauma, including free one-to-one support for 20 weeks, peer support groups, mentoring and advocacy. We will also offer preventative work with girls and women with learning disabilities and neurodiversity including online safety and healthy relationships. By empowering women, we support them to take control of their lives, to know their rights and speak up for what they need.

Please support our Big Give Christmas appeal by donating before midday on 5th December.
