The DIVAS are a Women's Centre Cornwall Project and forms part of our Community Engagement Project.

The DIVAS are a group of women with learning disabilities and autism who fight for their rights against discrimination and abuse and get their voices heard.

We are trained trainers, many of us have experienced abuse. We want to offer our training package to you and your organisation to increase your awareness and improve your practice; and understand the emotional impact of our experiences.

DIVAS definition of Sexual Violence

Includes rape, sexual exploitation, childhood sexual abuse by a close partner, family member or other person… ‘being made to do or watch things that hurts you or makes you feel bad’.

Two groups -the Tizard Centre at the University of Kent and the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) working with My Life My Choice - did some research looking at relationships for people with learning disabilities.
