Reclaim the night 2020

RECLAIM THE NIGHT IS GOING VIRTUAL THIS YEAR!!

On Saturday 28th November at 6-7.30pm

The Women’s Centre will be holding their annual “Reclaim the Night, Reclaim the Day, Reclaim Every Space for Women Everywhere!’’

As we cannot physically march through the streets this year, the event will be a zoom live event broadcast to our Facebook page

This year we demand safe spaces for women EVERYWHERE !!! ... in light of COVID and lockdown many women & children have been left vulnerable in their own homes, without access to support or an escape of any kind. Many times this means escalated abuse and less control over women’s choices in their lives.

We say this has to end!!! We demand safety on the streets, we demand safety online, we demand safety in the classroom, we demand safety in our homes and we demand an end to male violence against women & girls.

The evening will also be a time to remember and honour those women & children who have had their lives ended due to male violence, a candle lit vigil and time to come together to show our solidarity and demand safety for women & girls in the world.

There will also be some poetry and spoken word, music and a placard/banner/poster demonstration regarding safe spaces for women everywhere (safety on the streets, online & in the home).

We also ask that you prepare for a part of the event where we hold up our banners/poster by creating your own protest banner/poster (A4 Size) is sufficient enough to cover the camera.

Please also let admin@womenscentrecornwall.org.uk know if you would like to attend the event so as to have the confidential ZOOM link sent out to you prior to the event.

Bring your sisters, bring your daughters, bring your mother and your friends and join us to fight for our basic woman’s right to feel safe against male violence!
