Empower Women & Girls With Us - Become a Volunteer Trustee for The Women's Centre Cornwall.

UPDATE - Recruitment for Trustees have now closed

Our vision is a world where women take their rightful place in a just and fair society, free from inequality, violence and oppression.

Our mission is to enable women to reach their full potential, have their voices heard and overcome barriers to creating a better future for women and girls.

The Women’s Centre Cornwall has grown from its early roots as a Rape Crisis Centre into an innovative, award winning feminist organisation which provides a wide range of services for women and girls in our communities. Our work with survivors of sexual and domestic violence is our core specialism as we believe that there can be no real gender equality without a complete cessation of violence against women. In addition, we provide community-based activities across Cornwall and support women ex-offenders across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.

The Women's Centre Cornwall is at an exciting stage of its development as we move towards building new alliances and partnerships, develop further innovative needs led services and broaden our geographical reach.

We are seeking to recruit new Volunteer Trustees to enhance and extend the range of skills across our current Board and take the charity forward. We would particularly welcome interest from candidates who have strong local community links and with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Fundraising and Income Generation

  • Communications and Marketing

  • Legal

  • Youth Work/Education

The full Board meet 6 times a year, usually in the evenings between 4pm – 7pm.

The successful candidates will be passionate about ending violence against women and girls and committed to the values upheld by The Women’s Centre, with an understanding of the complexity of issues that our various services work with and the ability to contribute their views and experience to the overall strategic direction of the organisation.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).

The Women's Centre Cornwall values diversity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community, especially from groups with a protected characteristic such as Black and Minoritised women, who are currently under-represented at The Women's Centre Cornwall.

The Women's Centre Cornwall are a Disability Confident employer and our premises are fully wheelchair accessible.
