We are really excited to announce the launch of The Women’s Centre Cornwall’s Women's Survivor’s Forum, a pilot project funded by Comic Relief for survivors of Sexual Abuse & Domestic Violence/Abuse.
The Forum has been developed to enhance our existing support services and offer women greater choice over how they engage with us.
The Forum is being launched at a time when we are not able to physically connect and meet as we may have done previously.
At The Women’s Centre Cornwall we acknowledge the importance of women not feeling alone or isolated and as such the Forum will hopefully provide a space to create togetherness and be part of a unified voice.
It has been developed during this time when face to face contact has been much reduced but when violence, abuse and the impact of trauma has increased for many women.
The Forum is for women only over the age of 18 who have been affected by violence & abuse; sexual violence, rape & domestic abuse to share their experiences, feel connected and decrease social isolation.
The Forum is a place to empower, uplift, offer support, signpost to relevant agencies and bring women together in a safe, virtual space.
We also want to create a space for safe discussions and dialogue.
Healthy discussion can bring a multi-dimensional richness to life and we hope that the Forum will go some way in providing opportunities for women to give voice to their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
We are advocates for compassion, unity and equality and will strive to ensure that this is reflected via our Women's Survivors Forum.
The Forum aims to provide a space for women to feel a sense of togetherness, hopefully diluting the silencing impact of violence and abuse. Doing what we can, by giving more space to voice our thoughts, we can only answer to what women want… and by creating more spaces we continue to build strength and resilience in difficult times!
Social distancing doesn’t mean we’re socially distant!
