The Women's Centre Cornwall is constituted as a charitable company limited by guarantee and therefore is set up with special charitable articles and registered with both the Charities Commission and Companies House. Charitable companies such as The Women's Centre Cornwall must comply with both charity and company law, making returns and submitting accounts on an annual basis to both the Charities Commission and Companies House.
As a charitable company limited by guarantee, The Women's Centre Cornwall is liable for its own debts, can own property and transact business with other organisations. It does not have share capital however.
The Women's Centre Cornwall has directors: the directors are also trustees for the purposes of the Charities Act and under the company's articles are known as members of the Board of Trustees. All members of the Board of Trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the charity.

Meeting the Rape Crisis National Service Standards
The Women's Centre Cornwall is a member organisation of Rape Crisis England and Wales, having completed its latest 3-yearly validation process in 2016.
Rape Crisis England and Wales is the national umbrella organisation for a network of affiliated rape crisis centres whichprovide crisis and longer term specialised counselling, support and independent advocacy to women and girls of all ages who have experienced any form of sexual violence.
The Rape Crisis National Service Standards (RCNSS) have been developed in recognition of the need to have in place service standards that are specific to sexual violence services and provide a benchmark for excellence. The aim is to ensure that no matter where in the UK a survivor lives, they will receive a consistent and high quality response from any rape crisis centre they approach for support.
The principal sources of finance for The Women's Centre Cornwall are by way of grants from charitable trusts and funding from the Ministry of Justice and Cornwall Clinical Commissioning Group.
